Softball Recap: Curry Wins Going Away Against Hewitt-Trussville

Curry barely beat Hewitt-Trussville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellowjackets blew past the Huskies 18-3 on Monday. Considering the Yellowjackets have won 26 matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Skiely Perry tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shileigh Williams was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Ambrey Taylor was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Curry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hewitt-Trussville only posted an OBP of .391.

Curry's record is now 43-3. As for Hewitt-Trussville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 26-14-1.

Curry didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-2 victory against Cullman on the 22nd. As for Hewitt-Trussville, they will head out on the road to challenge Vestavia Hills at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
