Basketball Preview: Davie War Eagles vs. West Forsyth Titans
Davie has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the West Forsyth Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Davie took a serious blow against the Spartans, falling 70-39. Davie has not had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Davie got a solid performance out of Malayka Rankin, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Peyton Spaugh was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, West Forsyth waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 34-27 victory over Reagan.
Emma Staples was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 18 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of West Forsyth's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell McClain, who scored three points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Davie's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for West Forsyth, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7.
Davie didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Titans when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Davie since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
