Baseball Recap: Mcclatchy Wins Going Away Against Grant

McClatchy got themselves on the board against Grant on Wednesday, but Grant never followed suit. They blew past the Pacers 16-0. Considering the Lions have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Diego DiFiore made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Antonio Barber, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elias Ortega, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

McClatchy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in seven consecutive contests.

McClatchy's record now sits at 13-1. As for Grant, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

McClatchy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pacers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:20 p.m. on Friday.
