Baseball Recap: Mohonasen Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mohonasen took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Cohoes, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Tigers on Friday. The two-run effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Nic Quinlivan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty Cunningham, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Daniel Corsoro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

The win (which was Mohonasen's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cohoes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mohonasen will face off against Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cohoes, they will take on Greenville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
