Football Recap: West Grand Beats Plateau Valley for Their Fourth Straight Win

West Grand won the last time they faced Plateau Valley and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs snuck past the Cowboys with a 20-14 victory. The 20-point effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

West Grand's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Lockhart, who rushed for 105 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Grand was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 213 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plateau Valley only rushed for 89.

West Grand didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blake Terryberry and Walker Howell.

Although Plateau Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Hunter White and London Mitchell.

The victory (which was West Grand's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average over those games. As for Plateau Valley, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 4-1.

Coming up, West Grand will take on Rangely at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Plateau Valley, they will challenge Hayden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 35 points per game this season.
