Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson County Tigers vs. Lafayette Hornets

Jefferson County and Lafayette are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Jefferson County Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Lafayette Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Jefferson County faced off against Altha on Tuesday. Jefferson County lost 61-36 to Altha. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Jefferson County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carlos McBride, who posted 16 points, was perhaps the best of all. Keion Enzor was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Lafayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Suwannee, falling 74-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hornets have suffered since December 5, 2024.

Jefferson County will have to contain Parker Hill as he made an impact in Lafayette's last game. He went 7 for 12 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Murphy, who scored ten points.

Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Jefferson County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Jefferson County took a serious blow against Lafayette in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 88-54. Can Jefferson County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
