Preview: Middletown Middies vs. Monroe Hornets
The Middletown Middies will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Monroe Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-36, which was the final score in Middletown's tilt against Mason on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Middletown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while Mason is ranked 82nd).
Meanwhile, after soaring to 56 points the game before, Monroe were a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 36-21 to Madison. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Monroe has scored all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Middletown and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Monroe, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.
Middletown strolled past Monroe in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a score of 66-52. Will Middletown repeat their success, or does Monroe have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
