Softball Recap: Buckley Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Buckley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the St. Mary Eagles a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Bears have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kayla Milarch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Lily Leach and Lucy Moyer did most of the damage at the plate: Leach went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base, while Moyer went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Leach a new career-high. Grace Matthews was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Buckley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Buckley's win bumped their record up to 10-4-1. As for St. Mary, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

As of now, neither Buckley nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
