Baseball Game Preview: Southern Christian Patriots vs. Springwood Wildcats

The Southern Christian Patriots will take on the Springwood Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Southern Christian came up short against Evangel Christian on Friday, falling 10-4. The Patriots have struggled against the Lightning recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Southern Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Pender, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Springwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 17-8 to Southern Christian. One positive for the Wildcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Tucker Sides was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Hill, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Springwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Springwood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Southern Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Southern Christian took their victory against Springwood in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-8. Will Southern Christian repeat their success, or does Springwood has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
