Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Has No Trouble Against Torres

Roosevelt made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Torres, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rough Riders were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Toros on Tuesday. Considering the Rough Riders have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Xamuel Cerrato and David Meza were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cerrato pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Meza didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cerrato went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Meza scored a run while going 2-for-5. Those two RBI gave Cerrato a new career-high.

In other batting news, Manny Molano was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Brian Roberson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Roosevelt's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-6-1. As for Torres, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Roosevelt will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Toros: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
