It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Arlington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They blew past the JW North Huskies 9-3. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Itzel Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ryleigh Pliego was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mia Cortez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple.

Arlington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as JW North only posted a batting average of .276.

Arlington is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for JW North, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-10 record.

Arlington has already played their next contest, a 14-9 victory against Heritage on the 2nd. As for JW North, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-10 win against Hillcrest on the 1st.
