Softball Game Preview: Linfield Christian Lions vs. Aquinas Falcons

Linfield Christian is 0-10 against Aquinas since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. Linfield Christian will challenge Aquinas at 3:30 p.m. Linfield Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Thursday, Linfield Christian made easy work of Arrowhead Christian and carried off an 11-1 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.

Presley Sloniker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Danica Perez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Preston, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Linfield Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Aquinas fell victim to Norco and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Linfield Christian, their record is now 12-1.

Linfield Christian couldn't quite finish off Aquinas when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can Linfield Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
