Soccer Game Preview: Dos Palos vs. Firebaugh

The Dos Palos Broncos will challenge the Firebaugh Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dos Palos' last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Dos Palos' defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They had just enough and edged Tranquillity out 1-0. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Tigers are ranked 936th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dos Palos' one-goal win came courtesy of Milton Barrera, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Firebaugh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Avenal. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Firebaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15-1. As for Dos Palos, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
