Softball Recap: Homer Trojans vs. Leslie Blackhawks

Homer came out on top against Leslie on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Blackhawks. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Payten Minix was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
