Basketball Recap: Union Grove Christian Patriots vs. Faith Christian Eagles
The Union Grove Christian Patriots were the 57-51 winner over the Faith Christian Eagles when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Union Grove Christian was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 45-44 to the Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Union Grove Christian came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Eagles are ranked 531st).
Union Grove Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Colin Wykes, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Hayden Michalak, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Union Grove Christian are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 23-6. As for Faith Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Grove Christian is on the road again on Monday and plays the Conquerors at 6:45 p.m. on February 5th. As for Faith Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Woodland Baptist Christian will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
