Football Recap: Rich Township Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bloom last Saturday, Rich Township came back down to earth. The Raptors had to suffer through a 64-24 loss at the hands of the Kankakee Kays. The Raptors have struggled against the Kays recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Rich Township lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ortez Johnson, who rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run.

Phillip Turner produced another solid performance throwing for 211 yards and four TDs on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 148 yards on only ten carries for Kankakee. That's the most passing yards Turner has posted since back in October of 2024.

Rich Township's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Kankakee, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rich Township is set to take on their familiar foe Crete-Monee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Kankakee will square off against rival Bloom at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
