Softball Game Preview: Richland Royals vs. Birdville Hawks

The Richland Royals will head out on the road to face off against the Birdville Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Richland comes in on six and Birdville on ten.

On Tuesday, everything went Richland's way against Ryan as Richland made off with an 8-1 win. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

Stacy Jennings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sam Aguilar, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Berain, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Birdville made easy work of Ryan on Friday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The Hawks are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 13th matchup they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Birdville's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Richland, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3-2.

Richland suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Birdville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Richland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
