Baseball Recap: St. Pius X Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

St. Pius X had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Valencia on Friday. The Sartans put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 9-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Sartans in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.

Nathaniel Miera looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joaquin Aragon, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. Michael Deller was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

St. Pius X pushed their record up to 14-11 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Valencia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.
