Basketball Recap: Marissa Mitchell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Winston Salem Christian over NC GBB Academy National

Winston Salem Christian lost against NC GBB Academy National back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Winston Salem Christian Lions took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the NC GBB Academy National Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Eagles are ranked seventh).

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marissa Mitchell, who posted ten points and three steals. Those ten points gave Mitchell a new career-high. Tiani Davis was another key player, putting up six points and ten rebounds.

NC GBB Academy National got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Samiyah Barker out in front who put up 17 points. Barker continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justice Zimmerman, who earned 12 points.

Winston Salem Christian's record now sits at 12-7. As for NC GBB Academy National, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.

As of now, neither Winston Salem Christian nor NC GBB Academy National have any future games scheduled.
