Basketball Recap: Newman Comes Up Short

Newman suffered their biggest loss since December 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 68-40 defeat at the hands of the Marathon Red Raiders. The loss continues a trend for the Fighting Cardinals in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now lost five in a row.

Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Marathon, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newman will square off against Rib Lake at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Rib Lake will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Newman surely won't give up without a fight. Marathon has already played their next match (against Abbotsford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
