Basketball Recap: Tecumseh Comes Up Short

Tecumseh was the 64-44 winner over Boonville when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tecumseh Braves took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boonville Pioneers on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Tecumseh still got an impressive performance from Katelyn Marx, who went 8 for 16 en route to 27 points along with five rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Marx is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Ava Kissel, who posted nine points and four steals.

Emily Parker was her usual excellent self, going 21 of 32 to rack up 47 points in addition to seven boards and four steals for Boonville. The dominant performance also gave Parker a new career-high in shooting accuracy (66%). Baylee Mare was another key player, going 5 for 6 on her way to 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Tecumseh dropped their record down to 10-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Boonville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-16.

Coming up, Tecumseh will square off against Springs Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Boonville, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 76-37 loss against Evansville Central on the 4th.
