Baseball Recap: Hamilton Takes a Loss

Hamilton had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-15 to make it five. They fell just short of the San Jacinto Leadership Academy Lions by a score of 1-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-6 two weeks ago.

Seth Aanestad was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Aanestad wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adam Barreto, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

As for San Jacinto Leadership Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On San Jacinto Leadership Academy's side, the result came thanks to Joseph Wielinkski's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks.

Looking ahead, Hamilton will face off against Nuview Bridge at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. San Jacinto Leadership Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
