Los Lunas came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the West Mesa Mustangs by a score of 44-35. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

West Mesa's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Monique Sena, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Sena's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Johnnay Edwards, who posted three points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Los Lunas' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for West Mesa, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.

Los Lunas and West Mesa should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings. Los Lunas will challenge Atrisco Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 91 places (6 vs. 97). Meanwhile, West Mesa (ranked 35th) will meet Rio Grande (ranked 109th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
