Softball Recap: Warren County Wildcats vs. Kettle Run Cougars

Warren County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Kettle Run Cougars, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-8 back in March.

Sophia Lamendola made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Taylor Wrye also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

As for Kettle Run, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Kettle Run's side, they let Ryan Drew and Leah Trible run wild. Drew got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Trible went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Drew is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Thomas, who went 4-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warren County will venture away from home to square off against James Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colonels' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Kettle Run, they will take on Manassas Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
