Baseball Game Preview: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Schaumburg Saxons

For the second straight game, Barrington will face off against Schaumburg. The Fillies/Broncos will square off against the Saxons at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Barrington has three straight victories, Schaumburg has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Barrington barely beat Schaumburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Fillies/Broncos put the hurt on the Saxons with a sharp 12-2 win on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Fillies/Broncos have posted against the Saxons since May 8, 2019.

Will Renshaw looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Barrington got a massive performance out of Jackson Cavaliero, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Cavaliero a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Juilan Ashley-Friedman, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Barrington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Barrington's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Schaumburg, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
