Football Game Preview: Ferris Saxons vs. Mead Panthers

Ferris hasn't had much luck against Mead recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Saxons will square off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Ferris has given up an average of 42.8 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ferris is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Central Valley on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Saxons were beaten by the Bears 44-6. While losing is never fun, the Saxons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Bears are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mead duked it out with Mt. Spokane on Friday. The Panthers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 16-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Wildcats since October 5, 2018.

Ferris' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mead, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Ferris was taken down by Mead 49-13 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Saxons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
