Basketball Recap: Emma Christerson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sycamore over Princeton

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sycamore can now relate to. They took a 63-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Princeton Vikings. The Aviators have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Sycamore lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Emma Christerson, who on her way to 19 points. Her big performance that afternoon made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Rachel Balent, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Princeton was led to victory by Erin Thomas and Mari Gerton. Thomas to rack up 20 points along with six boards and four steals, while Gerton scored 17 points and seven rebounds. Gerton is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kali Fortson, who earned four points and six boards.

Sycamore's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Princeton, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-6.

Sycamore does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Princeton, they will square off against Fairmont at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fairmont will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Princeton surely won't give up without a fight.
