Baseball Recap: Evergreen Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Evergreen dropped their record down to 12-5-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They fell 7-4 to the Golden Demons. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Demons from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Evergreen saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Mauro, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Golden, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Golden's side, Sawyer Brinkman tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Brinkman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gunnar Hetrick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luca Casali, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Golden is set to challenge their familiar foe Wheat Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in the Demons' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Farmers have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
