Basketball Recap: Austin Catholic Takes a Loss

Austin Catholic lost against Bethany Christian back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Austin Catholic Crusaders fell 63-55 to Bethany Christian. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 720th, while Bethany Christian are ranked 230th).

Bethany Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nathaniel Byers, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten boards. The match was Byers' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Micah Wise, who went 8 of 14 en route to 24 points.

Austin Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Bethany Christian, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austin Catholic will challenge Detroit Cristo Rey at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Austin Catholic is facing Detroit Cristo Rey at the right time seeing as Detroit Cristo Rey is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Bethany Christian, they will face off against FAITH HomeSchool at 6:45 p.m. on February 11th.
