Baseball Game Preview: Franklin-Simpson Wildcats vs. Halifax County Comets

The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Halifax County Comets at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Franklin-Simpson duked it out with East Jessamine on Sunday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 6-3.

The team relied heavily on Liam Heinze, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Layne Alford was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Halifax County got the win against Kennett on Saturday by a conclusive 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brian Osborne was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaharie Edmonds, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Halifax County's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Franklin-Simpson, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-6.
