Volleyball Recap: Shawnee Mission East Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Shawnee Mission East and Olathe West squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Shawnee Mission East had to settle for second. They fell 2-0 to the Owls. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Owls recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Shawnee Mission East was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-15.

Molly McDonald paced Shawnee Mission East's offense, picking up eight kills. McDonald got some help from McGuire Alaina and her 15 assists. McDonald was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Shawnee Mission East's defeat dropped their record down to 23-12. As for Olathe West, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 26-7.

Shawnee Mission East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Olathe West, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Washburn Rural on the 31st.
