Football Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Payson Lions
After only six points in their last contest, Maple Mountain made sure to put some points up on the board against Payson on Friday. The Golden Eagles enjoyed a cozy 42-28 win over the Lions. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Maple Mountain found their leader in freshman Cole Allred, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 227 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes. The Golden Eagles also got a significant boost from Sam Mcgary, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.

Maple Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Payson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trevyn Wall, who threw for 365 yards and three touchdowns. Bryson Gull also helped out as he racked up 111 receiving yards.
Maple Mountain's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Payson, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 1-4.
