Volleyball Recap: Fossil Ridge Starts off Right with Win over Rock Canyon + How To Watch

Fossil Ridge had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won by a set and slipped past the Rock Canyon Jaguars 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the SaberCats also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Fossil Ridge wouldn't go down easily and took Rock Canyon into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 15-6.

Fossil Ridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trinity Burchett, who had 17 digs and three aces. Burchett is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Shanin Pottle, who had eight digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Fossil Ridge was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Rock Canyon's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rachel Christensen, who had eight digs and two aces.

Fossil Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Legacy on the 23rd. After both having extra time off, Rock Canyon and Chatfield will shake off the rust and duke it out at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
