Football Game Preview: Buena Colts vs. Casa Grande Cougars + How To Watch

The Buena Colts are taking a road trip to challenge the Casa Grande Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Casa Grande took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Buena, who comes in off a win.

Buena's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Vista Grande to the tune of 34-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Colts just coasted through the last quarter.

Buena got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaleb Layton out in front who threw for 256 yards and three TDs on only ten passes. Layton's passing game has become a key predictor of the Colts' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Buena also got a significant boost from Michael Lujan, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 98 yards.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Casa Grande challenged Marana on Friday. The Cougars came up short against the Tigers, falling 51-27. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Buena will need to focus on slowing down Cameron Armstrong, one of several Casa Grande players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Dedric Gulley, who picked up 89 receiving yards and one score.

Buena now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Casa Grande, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Buena against Casa Grande when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 65-28 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Cougars' Kendale Cade, who picked up 133 receiving yards, and also rushed for 46 yards.
