Preview: Pieper Warriors vs. Liberty Hill Panthers
The Pieper Warriors will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Liberty Hill Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. One thing working in Pieper's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matchups.
With a playoff game on the line, Pieper rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against the Mules by a score of 53-46. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Pieper got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jake South out in front who threw for 368 yards and six touchdowns. South hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for seven straight games. Pieper also got help from Isaiah Champagne who showed off his sure hands for 206 receiving yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pieper's defensive line and their four sacks. Alamo Heights' QB won't forget Kaden Glass anytime soon given Glass sacked him three times.
Meanwhile, Liberty Hill put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-28 margin over Flour Bluff. The win was nothing new for Liberty Hill as they're now sitting on three straight.
Noah Long continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 188 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. Long was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Ben Carter also helped out as he racked up 141 rushing yards.
Their wins bumped Pieper to 12-1 and Alamo Heights to 12-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Pieper has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 317 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Liberty Hill, though, as they've been averaging only 37.6 per game. How will Liberty Hill fare against such a dominant passing game?
