Recap: Umatilla Bulldogs vs. The Villages Charter Buffalo
The Umatilla Bulldogs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 42-20 walloping at the hands of The Villages Charter. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Umatilla in their matchups with The Villages Charter: they've now lost six in a row.
Although Umatilla took the loss, they still got scores from Tyler Pounders, Logan Bowling, and Blake Watson.
The Villages Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Harding, who picked up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a rushing score. Patrick Harding was another key contributor, throwing for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Umatilla to a paltry 166 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to The Villages Charter's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. Umatilla's QB won't forget Landry Steele-denley anytime soon given Steele-denley sacked him six times.
Umatilla's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for The Villages Charter, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-6.
Umatilla will take on Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Central is ranked 490th, while Umatilla is ranked 500th). As for The Villages Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against Wiregrass Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wiregrass Ranch will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
