Sterling is 7-2 against Gateway Regional since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Silver Knights will face off against the Gators at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Sterling turned things around against Camden County Vo-Tech on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over the Warriors. The Silver Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gateway Regional, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Bridgeton 12-0 on Friday. Considering the Gators have won four games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Colin Smith was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Justin Watts, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gateway Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.

The victory got Gateway Regional back to even at 5-5. As for Sterling, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Sterling got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Gateway Regional by a conclusive 16-3 score. Will the Silver Knights repeat their success, or do the Gators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
