Softball Recap: Lee Academy Cavaliers vs. Carolina Academy Bobcats

Lee Academy extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-9. They lost 18-4 to the Carolina Academy Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 back in March.

Ansley Nesbit was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Carolina Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.

On Carolina Academy's side, Ella Ham and Raeley Frye were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Ham tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Frye tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Ham has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ham went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Frye got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double. That double was Frye's first of the season.

In other batting news, Lauren Sims was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Savannah McCutcheon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Lee Academy will take on Hammond at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Skyhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.6 runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Carolina Academy, they will square off against Carvers Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
