Softball Recap: Marlborough Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Marlborough's offense. They came up short against the Shepherd Hill Regional Rams on Friday, falling 12-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

With the loss, Marlborough broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-6. As for Shepherd Hill Regional, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Marlborough is taking a road trip to challenge Fitchburg at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Shepherd Hill Regional, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Groton-Dunstable at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.18 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
