Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Verot Vikings vs. Creekside Knights

The Bishop Verot Vikings will take on the Creekside Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Verot will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Bishop Verot's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Manatee.

Nick Raber made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only a hit over five innings pitched. Raber was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Teegan Turner looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Braylon Sheffield was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he also posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Owen Rardin, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Creekside suffered their closest loss since March 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Atlantic Coast by a score of 4-2.

Creekside also got a good showing from Cristian Rodriguez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Creekside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Schlegel, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Bishop Verot's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Creekside, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
