Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Cowboys vs. Castaic Coyotes

Canyon is 1-8 against Castaic since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cowboys will host the Coyotes at 3:30 p.m.

Village Christian hit Canyon with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cowboys fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 5-4.

Joseph Prince was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Jimenez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Castaic waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They never let the Cowboys get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.

The result came thanks to Andrew Bond's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Castaic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Fava, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Castaic's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-17.
