League recap: Strong week lands Eastview inside Minnesota top 25

South Suburban league recap: 5/29/12

With a big week, Eastview jumped into the top 25 in the state rankings. Eastview moved up from No. 31 in the state all the way to No. 22 thanks to a 1-0 record over the past week. Led by manager Tom Strey, the Lightning are ranked No. 1597 in the nation with an overall record of 15-5.

First place in South Suburban belongs to Burnsville, which has compiled a 16-2 overall record to go with its 14-2 league record. The Lightning are in second place, 1.5 games behind with a 13-4 record in league play.

Eastview's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 10 hits and nine walks, both of which led the league. On the season, the Lightning have allowed just 125 hits, while striking out 136 batters. Evan Decovich leads the Lightning with 48 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched.
