Baseball Recap: Forestview's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Forestview can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Ashbrook Greenwave by a score of 9-6. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 10-5 win back in March.

Benjamin Denton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Forestview: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, Alex Nance was a standout: he went 1-for-5 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Owen Kelly was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Forestview's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Ashbrook, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Forestview and Ashbrook could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Jaguars will square off against Crest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (367 vs. 50). Meanwhile, Ashbrook (ranked 454th) will meet South Point (ranked 139th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
