Baseball Recap: Maywood CES Extends Winning Streak to Three

Maywood CES proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 21) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Arleta Mustangs a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolfpack have posted since March 7th.

Hernan Ruiz was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

The victory was the third in a row for Maywood CES, bringing their record up to 12-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Arleta, they dropped their record down to 5-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Maywood CES didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Marquez on the 5th. As for Arleta, they have also already played their next game, a 5-0 win against Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences on the 7th.
