Softball Recap: Herrin Has No Trouble Against Duquoin

Herrin's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the DuQuoin Indians 11-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Herrin got a great performance from Brooke Hudgens as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Hudgens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Coffey, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Elliott, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Herrin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Herrin's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for DuQuoin, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.

Herrin has already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Anna-Jonesboro on the 1st. As for DuQuoin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 9-5 win against Sparta on the 2nd.
