Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. Paul VI Panthers

The Archbishop Carroll Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Paul VI Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Archbishop Carroll is looking for their season's first win.

Archbishop Carroll came up short against St. John's on Thursday, falling 21-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Paul VI, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Life Christian Academy a 5-0 shutout on Thursday.

Life Christian Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Aiden Gallagher, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up zero walks). Gallagher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Owen Peltier, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Ryan Bahr was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Paul VI is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Archbishop Carroll suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Paul VI in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
