Baseball Game Preview: Callisburg Wildcats vs. Paradise Panthers

For the second straight game, Callisburg will face off against Paradise. The Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Callisburg 3.7, Paradise 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

It was a proper cat-fight when Callisburg challenged Paradise on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell 7-4 to the Panthers. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Paradise's part, they got a great performance from Kolten Neil as he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Neil has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madden Taylor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He has become a key player for Paradise: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Mara, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Paradise kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory (which was Paradise's sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Callisburg, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.
