Baseball Recap: Elk Grove Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Elk Grove won against Laguna Creek last Wednesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Thundering Herd skirted past the Cardinals 4-2. The Thundering Herd haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Bryce Engle looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Tristen Bartlett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Groves, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Elk Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Elk Grove's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Laguna Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Elk Grove will take on Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Thundering Herd surely won't give up without a fight. As for Laguna Creek, they will challenge Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
