Football Recap: Auburn Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Auburn faced Vestavia Hills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers were outmatched by the Rebels and fell 42-14. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Despite the loss, Auburn still got an impressive performance from Antonio Welch, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one touchdown. Welch was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 66 yards.

Auburn's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Vestavia Hills, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Auburn and Vestavia Hills will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Tigers are set to challenge their familiar foe Opelika at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Vestavia Hills will square off against rival Hewitt-Trussville at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
