Baseball Recap: Park City Sets Scoring Season-High Against East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Park City). They blew past the East Leopards 12-1 on Friday. The Miners haven't had any issues with the Leopards recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Wesley Dewitt was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Dewitt was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Royal Matthews and Justin Michaelis did most of the damage at the plate: Matthews scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Michaelis scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Michaelis also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Park City is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Colton Schmidt, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Park City now has a winning record of 4-3. As for East, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Park City will square off against Dixie at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for East, they will take on Skyridge in a tournament on Saturday.
